Some researchers have suggested that aluminum compound which is active ingredient of antiperspirant may be absorbed by the skin and causes changes in estrogen receptors of breast cells.

But very small amount of aluminum chloride (0.012%) was absorbed after application of antiperspirants containing aluminum chloride to the underarms which is much less than what would be expected to be absorbed from the foods a person eats or inhaled airborne during the same time.

There is one study  with total 176 patients with breast cancer that compared the aluminum level in areas of breast carcinoma with adjacent normal breast tissue ,aluminum quantification was done by using graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry (GFAAS) ; its highly specific and sensitive protocol in determination of aluminum level .

The results:

The aluminum chloride concentrations in the central and peripheral regions of breast tumors were similar to normal tissues.

Another study was done by researchers in Iraq examined antiperspirant use and other factors among 54 women with breast cancer and 50 women without breast cancer.

The results:

There was no link between antiperspirant use and breast cancer; the study showed that there were significant associations between breast cancer with family history and using of oral contraceptives.

At this point, there is no link between using of antiperspirants containing aluminum chloride and occurring of breast cancer.
